How Your Honey Feels About Working With You

"According to the recent Dremel "Do-It-Yourself" Index Survey, a surprisingly high percentage of men -- 44 percent -- believe that working on home improvement projects with another family member strengthens the relationship, while only 31 percent of women feel the same way."

I'm not sure why, but every time I read that sentence, I laugh.

on working with a family member...what men think is that they have an opportunity to show off, take command and reinforce the 'man and his helper' relationship. no wondewr most women don't like it.
when my wife and i do a remodel the first thing we decide is whose project it is, who is the boss and who is the assistant. this eliminates 99 percent of the irritation.
remodeling our bathroom was her project, i took orders and only offered advice when asked.
when i have a project the reverse is true, success is totally dependent on a clear chain of command and the ego-less giving and taking of advice.

Hi Keith,
Thanks for your wisdom. The 'who's in charge' decision is a huge key to marital harmony. Works in the kitchen too.

And here's another nugget from my basket of learnings: Whoever complains the least wins!
