Turning on

P1030340_hi_resThe Canadian Home Workshop Show is almost here, and that means I have to finish the items I'm presenting at the show.  My main project is a curvy desk made out of bamboo plywood from SilkRoad Bamboo, and I'm making the desk legs out of laminated bamboo sheets.  I absolutely love my new Delta cast iron bed 36-inch lathe - you wouldn't believe how hypnotic wood-turning is.

By the way, I couldn't find any information online about turning bamboo on a lathe, so I'm winging it.  If you've tried it, please send me a quick 'hi' - I have some questions for you! Thanks - mag@toolgirl.com

Hey Mag
Thanks for the update for this worshop that you will be attending. By any chance will Daniel film you while your there and will it be put here? I really hope so, It would be neat to see the project you've completed!
take care
Abi

You might want to try a button up shirt for turning.. :) unless you like the feel of the wood chips..

Thanks for the tip, Tony. The wood chips didn't bother me with the oak, but when I switched to bamboo it was like getting pelted with shrapnel. I found that wearing a tough old Goretex rainsuit from the Eighties did the trick!

Mag

Hi Abi,
Don't know if we'll get a chance to film the presentation. I'll definitely post pictures of the finished desk though.

Mag

Sweet! thanks Mag!
