Another foot of snow.  Another hundred reasons to cozy up to the fireplace with a good book.

Once the snow has climbed all the way up the dining room windows, our insulation values on the north side of the house will be much higher.

The Best Week for Sunsets

The best week of the year is the seven days between Christmas and the New Year.  No business calls.  No checking e-mail 20 times a day.  You can spend whole afternoons just reading and thinking. Or stretched out beside the window, watching the shadows lengthen.

We shoveled off the porch roof so it wouldn't get too heavy with the expected rain.

In the meantime, the frost had decorated with lace.

 

Land of the Snow Queen

It was foggy overnight as the temperature dropped, and this morning was a wonderland at -15C.  Ice crystals hung in the air stinging eyeballs with micro-daggers.  You had to be there.
