My new Delta lathe is here!
The truck bearing my new lathe arrived and there was no way the driver was going to chance our driveway, which is currently a 450-foot trough of snow-filled glory. So we 4-wheeled it down to the end of the driveway and Daniel helped the driver load the beastie into the back of our pick-up truck. (It looks as though they're
transferring a dead body, but it's just woodworking equipment. Really.)
man... you get all the neat toys!!

Yes, it is VERY neat - and yet also very messy, because I have already tracked pine shavings all over the house and befouled two pairs of fleece pants with tiny wood chips. D'oh! Is there some kind of plastic union suit that spurns wood shavings?

Indeed there is such a suit. It's called the Lee Valley Turner's Smock. It's a 3/4 length smock designed for turners to shed chips well but remains cool and light. It features a wrap-around neck with hook-and-loop closure, roomy full-length sleeves with elastic cuffs. I wore it during one of the turning course's I took at Lee Valley and it's great. Check out item 67K20.04 Medium Turner's Smock (38-40)-retails for $64.50 @ www.leevalley.com
